Spanish Speakers Needed to Help Low-income Families!

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Metropolitan Family Service

Do you want to use your language skills to make a real difference in your community? Does helping non-native English speakers access life-changing resources sound exciting? Then this is the opportunity for you!

Join a community of over 300 caring volunteers providing free tax preparation services to low-income families and helping overcome barriers to accessing tax credits by volunteering as a virtual interpreter!

Many of the families we help are native Spanish speakers, and we are building a team of virtual interpreters to help bridge the gap between English-speaking tax preparers and Spanish-speaking clients.

Not a tax expert? No problem! This is an interpretation-only role, and we’ll provide all the training you need.

About Metropolitan Family Service

Location:

1010 SE Stark St, Portland, OR 97214, US

Mission Statement

Metropolitan Family Service helps people move beyond the limitations of poverty, inequality and social isolation. We serve children, families and older adults in the tri-county area. MFS is dedicated to building stronger communities by providing services, connecting people with resources, and offering meaningful and rewarding volunteer opportunities.

Description

Metropolitan Family Service (MFS) volunteers serve in various capacities, depending on their areas of interest and abilities. Volunteers participate in on-going opportunities in one of three focus areas: helping children succeed, strengthening families and their connections to the community, and helping older adults and persons with disabilities live independently. We create opportunities that bridge generations and inspire everyone to live their best life.
