Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Volunteer Grant Writer to join our team. This role is essential in helping us secure the financial resources needed to initiate our programming. The ideal candidate will have previous experience writing successful grant proposals preferably with an understanding of the early childhood education and the nonprofit sector.
Responsibilities:
- Grant Research: Identify potential funding opportunities that align with our mission and programs. Stay updated on grant-making trends and opportunities relevant to early childhood education.
- Proposal Writing: Develop compelling grant proposals and applications, including narratives, budgets, and required attachments. Tailor proposals to meet the specific requirements of each funder.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit grant reports to funders as required, ensuring compliance with reporting deadlines and grant conditions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our Board to gather information and develop grant proposals that accurately reflect our needs and impact.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of grant applications, communications, and reports. Track grant deadlines and follow-up actions.
- Editing and Proofreading: Review and edit proposals and reports to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to funder guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Experience in grant writing, with a portfolio of successful grant proposals.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey in writing complex information in a clear and persuasive manner.
- Familiarity with grant research tools and databases.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of early childhood education and the nonprofit funding landscape is a plus.
Commitment:
- Weekly check-ins approximately an hour long
- Attendance at Board Meeting to present progress approximately 20 minutes (1-2x per month)
- 3 month trial basis, with review to discuss continuing on
