At our Ambassadors Training, adults with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities develop their public speaking and self-advocacy skills. Participants learn how to craft a compelling 3-4-minute speech with the support of a 1:1 Speech Coach.

The Speech Coach is paired 1:1 with an adult with or without a disability. The Speech Coach acts as a sounding board and are encouraged to brainstorm with your ambassador to discover stories and ideas that will make for an impactful speech. In your role, you can offer support in a variety of ways, including: editing the Ambassador's speech, providing presentation tips to create a high-quality speech, and practice practice public speaking skills and tips.

The training will focus on three main areas: overview of Best Buddies, instruction for writing and presenting a speech, and hands-on experience developing and delivering a speech. The training facilitator will periodically check in with each Ambassador/Speech Coach pairing to offer support, feedback, and/or instruction.
