ORGANIZATION: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

The MPRB mentor program is designed to help at risk youth 17 and under, overcome barriers to success while simultaneously encouraging positive relationships with goal setting and youth development. The program’s goal is to gather youth from the Minneapolis area and get them connected with adult volunteer mentors who will lead productive and engaging conversations and activities. Youth will gather at recreation centers where meeting sessions will be held twice a month. This program can be registered for but also will not turn away drop-ins.

The agenda of this program is to have an hour or two conversations while providing snacks, games, and quarterly fields trips for regular attendees, creating an environment for youth to feel safe and connect with others within the community. Focus topics include academics, youth development, goal setting and more. Mentors must pass a background check and complete basic training prior to beginning mentorship.
