Job Title: AWS Server Administrator Volunteer (Remote)
Location: Remote
Start / Time: Immediate needs of 4-6 hours and then as needed approximately 15-20 hours monthly. We may be open to more hours.

Description:
We are seeking a knowledgeable AWS Server Administrator volunteer to help us manage and migrate our current EC2 servers to AWS Free Tier resources. This remote volunteer role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a nonprofit organization, focused climate acton, utilizing your AWS expertise to optimize cloud infrastructure, reduce costs, and improve server performance.
Responsibilities:
- Review and manage existing AWS EC2 servers and other cloud services remotely.
- Lead the migration of server infrastructure to AWS Free Tier services where possible.
- Implement cost-saving strategies and optimize cloud resources for performance.
- Configure and maintain server security and implement best practices for AWS management.
- Monitor server health and performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide remote support for incidents.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure the migration aligns with organizational needs and goals.
- Document the server setup, migration processes, and provide ongoing support and guidance.
Requirements:
- Professional experience with AWS services, especially EC2, S3, and RDS.
- Knowledge of AWS Free Tier usage and limitations, with a focus on cost optimization.
- Experience in server migration and cloud infrastructure management.
- Solid understanding of security, networking, and best practices in cloud environments.
- Ability to work independently in a remote team and communicate effectively.
- Availability for remote meetings and communication to ensure smooth project coordination.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certification (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or equivalent).
- Experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Familiarity with AWS monitoring tools such as CloudWatch.
- Previous experience with nonprofit organizations or volunteer projects.
Other
- Troubleshoot and debug issues, providing timely resolution.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
