Service to Armed Services, International Humanitarian Law, Youth Action Campaign Outreach Volunteer:

This position supports the Regional SAF department. The purpose of this position is to promote the opportunity of the Youth Action Campaign to a broader audience of potential youth participants. Team members will be responsible for supporting and developing of the outreach strategy, expanding regional awareness and resources, developing new contacts and volunteers and, effectively networking to grow the Youth Action Campaign program. Demonstrating commitment and understanding of the Fundamental Principals of the Red Cross and an interest in youth development will be key responsibilities of this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the development of an outreach strategy to grow regional YAC programming.
  • Expand community awareness and resources
  • Develop new volunteer and community contacts
  • Work closely with Regional YAC Coordinator and supervisor to share knowledge, support relationship building, and help recruit groups
  • Identify schools, community groups, like-minded non-profits and JROTC battalions to form sustainable partnerships to promote the YAC program and its benefits

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the Youth Action Campaign program and the regional structure of the YAC team and program
  • Desire to support the American Red Cross humanitarian mission through educating youth on important global issues within IHL framework.
  • Working knowledge of the Red Cross Lines of Service and the Red Cross-JROTC partnership (MoU)
  • Ability to work independently with diverse populations, in a culturally competent manner and to embody the Red Cross fundamental principals including impartiality and neutrality.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Interest or experience in public speaking, creating presentations or educating interested parties on the YAC opportunities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, familiarity with social media tools and resources
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
