Description:

About

Founded by Janina Peter and Malish James, Bridging Gaps introduced a pay-it-forward community microloan model to address food security and poverty among refugees. By merging charity and microfinance, we empower entrepreneurs and create sustainable financial structures. Our digital platform secures donations from Europe and the global north, transforming them into microloans that ripple through the community. Unlike traditional repayable microloans, our model is based on a pay-it-forward approach. As businesses thrive, loans are passed on to new entrepreneurs in the same community, creating a sustainable ripple effect of new initiatives and, long-term, new independent financial structures. Donors receive continuous updates on the impactful stories of the entrepreneurs they support through our digital platform, fostering a sense of connection and engagement with the community. This innovative approach not only addresses immediate needs but also promotes lasting, self-sustaining initiatives. We are looking for a passionate and experienced individual to join our team as a Head of Operations. This role provides a unique opportunity to significantly contribute to our mission while developing your professional skills in process optimization, team management, and organizational growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and improve internal processes to enhance efficiency and team performance.

  • Lead recruitment efforts, including identifying talent needs, managing volunteer applications, and onboarding new team members.

  • Support team building and organizational culture development, ensuring alignment with Bridging Gaps' mission and values.

  • Oversee daily operational tasks, ensuring the smooth functioning of the organization.

  • Collaborate with department leads to align operational strategies with programmatic goals.

  • Monitor and report on operational performance, providing insights and recommendations to improve overall productivity.

  • Ensure compliance with legal and administrative requirements, particularly within the German NGO sector.

  • Lead a team of passionate volunteers and ensure their continued success and engagement.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in operations, team management, or a similar role, ideally within the German NGO sector.

  • Native German speaker with fluency in English.

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.

  • Experience in recruitment and team building.

  • Ability to design and implement efficient processes.

  • High level of adaptability, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Passion for social impact and the nonprofit sector.

  • Prior experience working in an international environment, demonstrating adaptability and cultural sensitivity.

  • High level of integrity and dependability.
