Want to support refugees in your community? In the last year, RefugeeOne has welcomed over 700 refugees from all over the world to Chicago - and we need your support to help them adjust to life in their new home!
Volunteers in our Adult Mentorship program will support an adult refugee (25+) as they build a life in Chicago! You will be matched 1:1 with a recently arrived refugee to support them in their transition to life in Chicgao. Mentors help with a range of things, including:
- Practicing English
- Navigating the CTA
- Developing community connections and accessing local resources
- Sharing culture and hobbies
- ...and more!
Most importantly, you'll serve as a friend and guide to a newcomer. No language skills necessary, flexible schedule!
Requirements:
- Attend orientation & complete training
- 18+
- Pass a background check
- Ability to commute regularly to Chicago's far northside neighborhoods (West Ridge, Rogers Park)
