Overall Responsibilities
Responsible for creating, planning, implementing and evaluating artistic educational programs and creative & engaging outreach initiatives that are best aligned with Fountain City Performing Arts mission and vision.
Education
Execute and oversee the Youth Outreach program, including:
Ø Facilitating workshops with GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance, or similar organizations) students, advisors
Ø Provide choral clinics/masterclasses with choral students
Ø Identify and coordinate volunteers for each school assembly
Ø Facilitate Q&A during performances and in a post-performance gathering with students and OVKC singers
Ø Manage a school-based initiative. Includes working with teachers, administrators to foster school improvement through the arts; overseeing curriculum design and implementation.
Ø Identify educational trends that may present new opportunities for the organization and recommend a course of action.
Outreach
Execute and oversee the Youth Outreach program, including:
Ø Collaborate with community partners to assess community needs - plan and develop youth programming in relationship to those needs
Ø Serve as advocate and promotor of FCPA and its youth programs' education and outreach initiatives
Ø Building partnerships with community social service organizations, park & recreation departments and welcoming places of worship
Administrative
Ø Communicate the overall program and experience, to include budgeting in collaboration with the artistic director to the managing director and board of directors
Ø Contribute to funding proposals for education and community outreach initiatives in collaboration with managing director
Ø Engage in active communications with the board of directors, board committees, funders, parents/guardian, other members of the Kansas City metropolitan, cultural community, and other groups, as appropriate
Other contributions to the Artistic Team, including:
Ø Assistant artistic director of the OUTside VoicesKC Chorus;
· Sectionals and Solo Auditions
· Rehearsal conductor in the absence of the artistic director
· Conduct one or two pieces per concert
Ø Attend monthly staff meeting
Ø Represent the Youth Outreach program at concerts and events
Ø Create and manage youth recruitment initiatives and projects
Ø Serve as point of contact within the Gay and Lesbian Association (GALA) youth chorus network
Ø Assist artistic director with other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Ø Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or an undergraduate degree in a relevant area of Music. A combination of education and/or comparable work experience (4 - 6 years) will be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
Ø Experience in conducting choirs or directing musical theater productions.
Ø Experience in curriculum implementation and musical arts workshops
Ø Ability to mentor, motivate and empower youth with diverse backgrounds
Ø Knowledge of sensitivity to the LGBTQIA community, choral movement and the musical/artistic community
Preferred Skills
Ø Piano; ability to warm up a chorus and play from an octavo
Ø Demonstrated programming that shows collaboration with diverse partners
Ø Excellent verbal and written communication skills

FCPA is the managing organization to SingOUTKC Youth Chorus, PerformOUTKC Youth Arts and OUTLoudKC Youth Drum Ensemble for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, at-risk and straight ally teens, ages, 13-18 in the Greater Kansas City community offering a safe space for teens to grow and share their views on societal issues through the arts.
