The National Pet Advocacy and Welfare Society (NPAWS) believes that all pets are born beautiful. The NPAWS Pet Positive Movement is working to end normalized pet cruelty by saving tails, ears, claws, and more from non-therapeutic invasive procedures. Such needless actions as tail docking, ear cropping, declawing, and other antiquated traditions have no place in modern America.

NPAWS is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. We are 100% volunteer run and based in Austin, TX.

Position Summary:

NPAWS is seeking a dedicated and skilled volunteer System Administrator to support our IT infrastructure and ensure smooth operations of our technology systems. This role is crucial in maintaining the efficiency and security of our digital resources, enabling us to focus on our mission of pet advocacy and welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain NPAWS’ IT infrastructure, including networks, and software systems

• Ensure the security and integrity of our data and systems

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly

• Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures

• Develop and oversee cybersecurity

• Manage user accounts and access permissions

• Provide technical support to staff and volunteers as needed

• Collaborate with other IT volunteers to implement new technologies and improve existing systems

• Document IT processes and procedures

• Stay updated on relevant technologies and best practices in system administration

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in system administration

• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems

• Experience with network administration and security

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong commitment to animal welfare and NPAWS' mission

Time Commitment:

• 2-5 hours per week, flexible schedule
