Memory Cafes are monthly gatherings hosted throughout the Treasure Valley. A gathering where those with the dementia diagnosis as well as their loved one can come together with others walking a similar journey. We need more volunteers to provide the hospitality and kindness for these dear families. Whether you're facilitating one of these Cafes or being part of the welcoming team, we NEED YOU. You will be providing your service for approximately 2-4 hours/month. We'd love to hear from you and answer any questions you might have. (NOTE: New volunteer training on Oct. 18th so call Karen Kouba-McIver 208-947-4283 today to get more info!)

Mission Statement
Aging Strong Programs are housed under Jannus Inc, a non-profit health and human services organization helping individuals, families and communities in transition. Jannus changes lives through caring volunteers and a portfolio of diverse programs that promote health, advance policy and create opportunity.
Description
Aging Strong Programs consists of 4 volunteer powered progams (Legacy Corps, Powerful Tools, Memory Cafe, and Foster Grandparents). Our volunteers have the chance to choose between serving veterans, providing companionship to isolated older adults, working with those with memory loss or even mentoring children in schools. Legacy Corps Services help elderly age in place and decreases the stress of caregiving by providing weekly volunteer companion visits to older military connected families. The Powerful Tools For Caregivers workshops are volunteer instructor lead workshops giving family caregivers tools to care for themselves as well as their loved ones. The Memory Cafes are monthly gatherings for those with the dementia diagnosis as well as their loved ones. The Foster Grandparent program brings multi-generational learning to local classrooms. 55 + adult volunteers provide tutoring and mentoring, in person or online! All of these volunteer opportunities are provided through the Aging Strong Program.
