ORGANIZATION: BGCM Community Center & Sportsplex

We are seeking a Virtual Academic Mentor to assist 11th-grade students with organization, study habits, and time management. This role is perfect for high school seniors, college students, or graduates looking to help a student excel across a diverse set of advanced courses.

Subjects Include:

  • Advanced Calculus
  • Honors English Literature
  • Honors U.S. History
  • Honors Government and Politics
  • Spanish 3
  • Biology

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the student checks their school portal, email, and grades daily to stay organized and up-to-date.
  • Help the student with reviewing class notes, study sessions, and preparation for quizzes and exams.
  • Provide structure and accountability, guiding the student to meet academic goals and deadlines.
  • Offer subject-specific help in areas like Advanced Calculus, Honors English, and Biology.
  • Utilize virtual platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet for tutoring sessions.

Schedule:

  • The students are available September - December,Monday from 12:20-2:00 PM, Wednesday after 1:00 PM, Friday 9:30-11:30 AM, and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday after 4:00 PM. There is also availability on weekends.
  • You can volunteer 2-5 days per week with a minimum commitment of 2 hours per day.

Why Volunteer? This is a unique opportunity to gain tutoring and mentoring experience while making a lasting impact on a student's academic journey. You will help the student improve their organization skills, ensuring they excel in multiple advanced courses.

Ideal Candidates:

  • High school seniors, college students, or graduates with strong academic skills.
  • Familiarity with at least one of the student’s subjects is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication and time-management skills.

Located in the heart of Jackson, NJ, we specialize in improving the self esteem of youth and families in surrounding suburban as well as underrepresented and underprivileged communities, while promoting integrity and stewardship, and offering, to youth in our surrounding states from Maine to North Carolina, an innovative opportunity to train, excel, and compete academically, artistically, and athletically.
