Event Overview:

The Community in Action Festival is an annual event that addresses health and wealth disparities affecting African American communities across Pennsylvania. In preparation for this significant event, Community Hero PA is seeking volunteers to assist with the critical behind-the-scenes and event-day work. Volunteers will play a key role in helping ensure a smooth and successful event by supporting various pre- and event day tasks.

Volunteer Roles Available (Pre-Event Support):

  1. Welcome and Registration Team

    • Greet and check in attendees and volunteers
    • Distribute Event Materials (name tags, wristbands, maps, etc.)
    • Answer general event questions
  2. Vendor & Data Collection Team
    • Guide attendees to screening stations
    • Maintain smooth traffic flow & assist with forms/surveys as needed
    • Ensure privacy and confidentiality for screenings
  3. Food & Hydration Support Team
    • Distribute snacks, water, meals to volunteers
    • Assist food vendors if needed
  4. Event Set Up & Breakdown Crew
    • Assist with setup (tables, chairs, signage)
    • Keep event space organized & clean
    • Help with packing up materials post-event
  5. Social Media & Content Capturing Team (requires additional orientation prior to event)
    • Take event photos & video
    • Post live updates on social media
    • Collect attendee testomonials
  6. Runner/Floater
    • Fill in wherever needed based on real-time needs
    • Assist organizers with various tasks
  7. Programming Tables (Get out the Vote, ID Clinic, etc.)

PRE-EVENT OPPORTUNITY

Event Outreach Team

There will be several two-hour shifts available during the months and weeks prior to the event to flyer the community. Flyering entails leaving flyers at residences, businesses, libriaries, etc.

Time Commitment:

Flexible shifts available depending on your role. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for at least one shift (typically 2,4, 6, or 8 hours). Attendance at virtual orientation meeting is required.
