ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Southern California Region



The American Red Cross is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer to join our Regional Service to the Armed Forces department as a Coordinator for the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Youth Action Campaign (YAC). This role is crucial in promoting awareness and understanding of International Humanitarian Law among young people.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate the YAC Program: Oversee the implementation and management of the IHL Youth Action Campaign at the regional level.

Youth Engagement: Inform and engage youth aged 13-24 about International Humanitarian Law, fostering a deeper understanding of its importance.

Campaign Development: Support and guide youth in creating and executing peer-to-peer awareness campaigns on selected IHL topics.

Project Management: Utilize excellent project management skills to ensure the campaign's success, from planning to execution and evaluation.

Group Facilitation: Lead and facilitate group discussions, workshops, and events related to IHL and the YAC.

Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with youth participants, Red Cross staff, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

Passion for Working with Youth: A genuine interest in working with young people and helping them understand important humanitarian issues.

Interest in IHL: A strong interest in International Humanitarian Law and its application in real-world contexts.

Skills: Excellent project management, group facilitation, and communication skills.

Attributes: Display flexibility, adaptability, initiative, and a strong ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Neutrality Compliance: Ability to present politically sensitive issues in a manner that aligns with the American Red Cross's neutrality mandate.

Preferred Experience: Previous experience working with youth, involvement with the American Red Cross, and/or a background in International Humanitarian Law is preferred.

Must live in Southern California (Orange, San Diego, Imperial, San Bernadino, and Riverside)
