SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) Volunteer Counselors are trained to be the go-to people for seniors and Medicare beneficiaries. Volunteers are responsible for providing balanced, unbiased, accurate guidance and information with which our clients can make an informed decision about their Medicare options. There is an extensive online training, after which , you will be certified and then you will counsel clients either over the phone, or in office.

The Council on Aging of Buncombe County promotes the independence, dignity and well-being of adults through service, education, and advocacy.

Description

The Council on Aging (COA) is a nonprofit organization that provides services to individuals age 60 and older. COA provides personal, caring support and assistance with the challenges of growing older. We provide referrals and help in learning the Medicare system, staying healthy and independent at home, and support for caregivers.
