Role Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated and strategic Chief of Staff to work closely with our executive team, especially our CEO. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the organization’s direction by overseeing critical initiatives, providing leadership, and ensuring operational excellence across all areas of the organization. You’ll mentor and lead over 70 student interns working on multiple technical projects, ensuring that our efforts align with OpenNLP’s mission to create impactful AI solutions for social good.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership & Mentorship: Work closely with the CEO to provide strategic direction and mentorship to over 70 student interns, guiding them through the execution of 5+ technical AI projects.
• Operational Oversight: Ensure smooth execution of our cohort program, where students from top institutions like Stanford and CMU collaborate on projects with real-world applications.
• Performance Management: Monitor project progress, conduct biweekly reviews, and ensure that all projects meet their milestones.
• Student Engagement: Foster a supportive and inclusive environment, promptly addressing concerns and providing encouragement to students.
• Executive Reporting: Prepare weekly reports for the CEO and stakeholders to keep them informed of progress, challenges, and opportunities.
• Recruitment & Human Resources: Lead recruitment efforts to identify and onboard top talent, manage HR processes, and ensure a seamless intern experience.
• Marketing & Outreach: Oversee and grow the marketing and social media presence of OpenNLP Labs, highlighting our impact and expanding our reach.

Requirements:

• Incoming freshman in college or above (exceptions can be made for exceptional candidates).
• Technical experience in NLP/CS, with at least entry-level proficiency in Python and web development.
• Proven experience in managing mid-size teams (20+ people).
• Ability to commit at least 20 hours per week.
