Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: EFBA

EFBA round logo

Our non-profit provides French language after school programs all around the Bay Area.
We are looking for 1 volunteer to assist the facilitator of our Minecraft Supervised Sessions that occur every first Sunday of the month.

What are our Minecraft sessions? For two hours per month, we will enable participants between the ages of 8 and 11 to develop their logical and rational skills in a fun, Francophone environment. In a small group (10 players maximum) supervised by a facilitator, they will be able to form friendships and let their creativity run wild!

Who?
You speak French at a B2 level or higher, enjoy playing with children, are a natural leader, and are familiar with Minecraft. This role is ideal for students seeking an immersive French environment outside of traditional classroom settings (and without the grammar lessons!)

When?
October 6 to May 4.
Every first Sunday of the month from 9 to 11 am (Pacific Time)

Description:
As a Volunteer Minecraft Helper, you will engage with children in French throughout the session while playing Minecraft alongside them. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring the children's activities, offering encouragement, and providing positive feedback. Volunteers are expected to take initiative in their interactions.
  • If a child appears disengaged, suggesting in-game activities (such as building a house or working on creative projects) to spark their interest.
  • Fostering teamwork among the children and assisting in resolving any conflicts that may arise.
  • Understand and adhere to the EFBA’s teaching philosophy: play-based learning experience, full immersion environment, safe social emotional learning environment, cultural diversity, positive reinforcement, inclusivity.

About EFBA

Mission Statement

Education Française Bay Area was created in 2009 by Gabrielle DURANA to give access to all children to a bilingual education, in our case French. We are a WASC accredited part-time school. Our non profit organization offers high quality yet affordable French after schools, summer camps and cultural programs to both francophone and French as a Second Language children, aged 5-18. The classes take place in local schools of the Bay Area. Our mission statement is simple: to provide a bilingual, multicultural francophone education, opening doors and minds to the world.

Description

"Ideas are a dime a dozen. People who implement them are priceless." Mary Kay Ash

We want to make the world a better place. We believe every child, every person has a potential and it is our individual and collective duty to empower that human through care, guidance and education to become truly part of society.

Care is not enough, we need action and we need justice. We are the change we seek. Howard Thurman once wrote: "Don't just ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you alive, and do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive".

Are you alive? Then let's put our energy into something bigger than ourselves and hold each other accountable to protect the children, protect the planet, protect the world's biological and cultural diversity. Yes, we can change the world together from here. Change will not come if we wait for some other person, for some other time. We, the people are the change we seek.
