Police Youth Explorers

During the COVID-19 response, Police Youth Explorer monthly meetings are suspended, and the related new volunteer onboarding. But you can start the conversation, by clicking on "I Want to Help."

Interested in learning about Law Enforcement? Gain valuable work and life skills! Police Youth Explorers are youth-aged (ages 14-19*) volunteers who receive extensive law enforcement training to perform traffic control, provide crowd control at special events and perform other related assignments while concurrently learning about the profession and the opportunity attend intensive team trainings.

Prospective volunteers must have and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and be attending school or employed full-time. Each candidate must complete required screening and paperwork before being accepted into the Police Youth Explorers program. Once joined, the expectation is that they attend monthly meetings and contribute monthly hours toward group assignments, such as special events.

*established Police Youth Explorers may stay in the program until age 21
