We’re excited to invite you to a special volunteer day at Patterson Creek Preserve, a beautiful land with critical wildlife habitat and public trails. Join us on Friday, December 20, from 1:30-3:30 PM, to restore essential wildlife habitat by planting native trees that benefit local wildlife, improve water quality, and enhance air quality. You will also gain valuable insights into ecological restoration and our innovative approach to land conservation.

What we are doing: We will be planting native shrubs and trees to support the local wildlife and provide more ecosystem services. This is a special site to Forterra and a great spot to learn about ecological restoration, Patterson Creek Preserve, and Forterra’s role as an unconventional land trust.

What to bring: Please wear weather appropriate gear and bring a water bottle. Gloves are provided as are all tools and materials.

Where to Park: Patterson Creek Preserve - please park at the end of the road marked with Forterra signs. https://goo.gl/maps/hWmhfAm9JbCJyE938

About Forterra

Location:

901 5th Avenue, Suite 2200, Seattle, WA 98164, US

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
