Simpson Co. HFH to create new Veterans program and take part in 9/11 Day of Service event

ORGANIZATION: Kentucky Habitat for Humanity Inc

HFH of Simpson Co. located in Franklin KY will launch a veterans repair program, during a lunch and learn event. They will provide a luncheon to honor veterans and educate their service area on what Habitat's program provides to veterans and the qualifications to be chosen for the program. The affiliate will set up booths and invite local businesses to attend who provide programs and discounts for veterans. Habitat as well as the local businesses will provide their information on site and talk with the veterans and the general public. The affiliate will hand out their repair brochures and applications. HFH of Simpson Co. will be inviting the VFW, AmVets and other service organizations, local government, health care providers who will preform free screenings, and offer information on healthy living. They will also have a very special guest who will be the guest speaker.

Incorporated in November 1993, Kentucky Habitat for Humanity Inc. is the state organization providing support to a network of 31 Habitat affiliates in 49 counties throughout the Commonwealth. KyHFH's provides services in the following areas; Resource Development, Advocacy, Educational Learning and Technical Assistance and Disaster Preparedness and Long Term Recovery. To date, Habitat. has newly constructed, rehabbed and repaired 6,951 homes, housed a total of 27,808 Kentucky adults and children, provided over six-million service. hours to our volunteers and invested close to $200 million dollars in affordable housing throughout Kentucky. Habitat is not a free program. We provide a very affordable mortgage based upon a homeowners income and what they can afford. Habitat is a hand up, not a hand out.
