About Culture in Sports: Culture in Sports is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting healthy, inclusive, and positive sports environments. We aim to influence leadership, organizational culture, and community engagement to ensure the success of all athletes and stakeholders. To broaden our impact, we are looking for a passionate and strategic Director of Development to lead our fundraising initiatives and secure the resources needed to sustain and expand our mission.

Position Summary: The Director of Development is a key leadership role responsible for spearheading fundraising efforts, building and maintaining relationships with donors, and strategizing on long-term financial growth to support Culture in Sports' mission. This role requires a strategic thinker passionate about our cause, excellent communication skills, and an interest in non-profit fundraising and development.

Key Responsibilities:

* Fundraising Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorship, and online campaigns.
* Work closely with the Chief of Staff and other team members to align fundraising goals with organizational objectives and projects.

* Donor & Sponsor Engagement: Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Grants & Proposal Management: Collaborate on grant writing efforts, including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements with key leadership.

Event Planning & Campaigns: Plan and implement fundraising events, donor appreciation initiatives, and targeted giving campaigns. Utilize digital tools and social media to enhance campaign reach and engagement.

Collaboration & Reporting: Work closely with the Chief of Staff, board members, and other stakeholders to ensure development efforts are aligned with organizational priorities. Prepare and deliver progress reports to leadership, highlighting key metrics and growth projections.

Database Management: Maintain a donor database and ensure timely communication and acknowledgment of donations.

Considerations:

  • Learning Opportunity: This role is crafted as a growth opportunity. Candidates who are eager to learn and advance their careers, not just those with the most experience, can thrive here. Leadership is dedicated to helping you earn the résumé bullet points and experiences you need.
  • Potential for Leadership: While immediate experience is not a prerequisite, we are looking for individuals who show potential for leadership and strategic thinking, which will benefit our organization and your career in the long run.
  • Cultural Fit: We're looking for a candidate with a growth mindset who shares the organization's values and passion for sports and culture.
  • Strategic Vision: A candidate who can think strategically about growth and sustainability, helping to guide the organization toward its long-term goals.
  • Flexibility and Creativity: Resources are limited in a non-profit setting. A candidate who can creatively maximize resources and adapt when necessary will be invaluable.
  • Network: Candidates eager to gain or have an existing network in sports, non-profits, and/or development communities can significantly boost our fundraising efforts.
  • Passion and Drive: A genuine passion for the cause and the drive to make a difference can often outweigh traditional qualifications. We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates a genuine enthusiasm for our mission.
  • Adaptability: The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable, ready to tackle diverse fundraising tasks and challenges as they arise.

Qualifications:

  1. A strong interest in and commitment to the mission of Culture in Sports.
  2. Demonstrated willingness to learn and take initiative in new tasks and challenges.
  3. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective sharing of our vision and inspiring others.
  4. High level of creativity and innovation in problem-solving and generating fundraising ideas.
  5. Ability to collaborate with a team while displaying self-motivation to work independently.
  6. Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  7. A genuine interest in building and nurturing relationships with diverse groups, including community members, potential donors, and team members.
  8. A positive attitude toward feedback and continuous improvement of one's skills and knowledge.
