Alpha Search and Recovery (Alpha SAR) is a Houston based non-profit that is dedicated in assisting law enforcement with locating the missing. Alpha SAR will be hosting a search and rescue canine seminar in Livingston, Texas. We are looking for people to come and hide from the search dogs while for training and certification purposes. Volunteers will need to come out for a minimum of 5 hours and be willing to run, walk, and hide from the dogs in all different types of scenarios. When found by the dog, they should also be willing to engage/play with the dog per the handlers instructions or offer the dog it's treat reward. It is a lot of fun and a unique experience to help these dogs out!

You'll be provided with a location to walk to in order to "hide" from the canines. The canines will then come find the missing person. Of course, you will never actually be missing, but we always need new people to pretend to be missing. We will be enjoying nature and the outdoors, so dress appropriately with closed toed shoes and comfortable pants. Be sure to bring water, bug spray, and maybe a good book or electronic device to keep you busy during the down time.

Families, students needing volunteer hours, or adults are welcome to participate. Feel free to view our website to see what we are about: www.AlphaSar.org/seminar or email seminars@alphasar.org if you have any questions. We can't do it without amazing volunteers like you! Volunteers allow our canines to certify as a search dog. These certifications are required in order to assist in the search and recovery of a missing person. But it is more than that. You get to play with the dogs too!
