This year, York Pride is hosting their first-ever Halloween hotel takeover on the night of October 18th, 2024! For this HallowQueen event, we are looking for volunteers to transform into scare actors to welcome guests to the party.

What you should know is:

  1. You don’t need to have experience to volunteer but you MUST BE 19+
  2. Costumes and makeup/face paint will be provided. You can bring your own costume, but make sure to check with the team to make sure you can use that costume.
  3. The party will take place at the Toronto Marriott Markham on October 18th 2024.
  4. It is a two-hour shift which starts at 8:30 pm and goes until 10:30 pm. You must arrive 1 hour before your shift starts, to get into costume and makeup.
  5. Finally, have fun! After your shift is complete, we are more than happy to provide a free ticket to the dance and one drink ticket. (parking at the Toronto Marriott Markham is not included).

Mission Statement

York Pride is one of the biggest regional prides in Ontario. We continue to celebrate the power and beauty of diversity in one of Canada’s most vibrant and growing regions. Our mission is to inspire positive change through human connections, support, and education, while providing 2SLGBTQ+ focused events that highlight our queer culture and the importance of creating inclusive spaces within and beyond York Region. Our vision is to make York Region the ultimate destination for 2SLGBTQ+ experiences.

Description

We host events throughout York Region in support of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Our major event, our pride festival, takes place in Newmarket in June. With 24 years of work, our organization has done amazing things, and it couldn't have been done without the support of our surrounding companies. We have smaller projects such as HallowQueen, Skating with Pride, a youth program, and attend many surrounding events hosted by our supporters. As York Pride continue to grow, we can achieve new things and connect with more people.
