The Donor Engagement Volunteer acts as a liaison for donors to the Field Museum, offering real-time assistance with questions and requests via phone and email and supporting the engagement and stewardship efforts of the Individual Giving team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Donor Engagement Volunteer will check donor support voicemail and email and offer responses or connect them with the appropriate Museum staff.

  • Additional duties include but are not limited to: writing thank you notes and making thank you calls, helping donors while they are visiting, leading highlights tours and/or exhibition tours, assisting with donor events during Museum hours.

Volunteer Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in phone and email (Gmail) communication. Must be comfortable with computers and technology

  • Must be friendly, well organized and detail oriented.

  • This volunteer role requires customer service, hospitality experience, or other visitor/customer facing experience.

  • Experience leading tours or in special events is of interest but not required.

Hours and Time Commitment:

  • A minimum of one four-hour shift per week, Monday through Friday. No weekend hours are available.

  • Once trained and able to work independently, some remote work may be possible.

  • A minimum time commitment of 6 months is required, with one four-hour shift per week.

  • Applicants who can provide a long-term commitment of 8 months to one year will receive priority upon placement.

  • This volunteer role is suited for a range of physical capabilities and is flexible to the individual.
