ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - National Headquarters

This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Fund Development (FD) team in Gift Planning. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. The Gift Planning Volunteer Coordinator manages the volunteers for the 40-member Gift Planning Unit, including recruiting new volunteers, working with Gift Planning Officers (GPOs) to onboard and train volunteers, and stewarding existing volunteers.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the recruitment process for new volunteers, including reviewing position descriptions with Gift Planning Partners, liaising with NHQ Volunteer Mobilization, and conduct the initial Gift Planning Unit screening of volunteer applicants.
  • Manage the onboarding and training of new gift planning volunteers.
  • Assist with the management of gift planning volunteers, including workflow and project assignments, etc.
  • Oversee stewardship of volunteers to help ensure a positive volunteer experience.
  • Provide guidance and tools for Gift Planning Officers to effectively manage the tasks necessary for their gift planning volunteer positions.
  • Share information and feedback on the Gift Planning volunteer recruitment plan.

Qualifications:

Required:

      • Must be at least 18 years old
      • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel
      • Reliable access to computer and internet connection
      • Experience with employee/staff relations or HR tasks a plus
      • Experience delivering training material
      • Previous leadership experience and comfortable with managing people
      • Ability to plan and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
      • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
      • Ability to coordinate and organize multiple functions and activities within deadlines
      • Comfort working independently while also being a team player
      • Enthusiastic about Red Cross mission and programs
      • Understand the value of volunteers and provide leadership and support to ensure volunteers are productive and have a mutually rewarding experience.
      • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.
