Lake Shelbyville Volunteer Visitor Center Host

This job requires the daily operation of the Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center, which is open 7 days a week from the first weekend in May to Labor Day. This work schedule will be split up between 3 volunteer positions but should represent approximately 20 hours of volunteer labor per person each week. Schedule will be provided upon interest. A predetermined full hook-up campsite is provided in exchange for volunteer hours worked.
Duties : Answer visitor’s questions and provide any needed assistance. Answer phone calls. Maintain appropriate records of visitation as well as report equipment breakdown or unusual occurrences. Perform clerical duties as needed. Open and close Visitor Center on a daily basis. Sell bookstore items and operate cash register. Maintains displays in a clean and operational manner. Stock brochure racks and merchandise shelves. Water outdoor flowerpots by front doors as needed. Check trash cans. Update information boards. Sweep and clean off sidewalks when needed. Clean windows and doors when needed.
