The Grant Locator and Writer is responsible for helping the Development Director researching, identifying, and securing funding opportunities from public and private grant-making organizations. This role involves writing compelling grant proposals and reports, managing the grant application process, and ensuring that the organization meets all grant requirements. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have strong writing skills, and possess a deep understanding of the funding landscape relevant to our mission.

Responsibilities:

Grant Research and Identification:

  • Research and identify new government, corporate, foundation, and private funding opportunities that align with the organization’s goals.
  • Maintain a comprehensive calendar of grant opportunities, submission deadlines, and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor trends in the nonprofit sector to identify emerging funding opportunities.

Grant Proposal Writing:

  • Develop and write persuasive grant proposals, letters of intent, and concept papers tailored to specific funders.
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather information necessary to prepare accurate and compelling proposals.
  • Customize grant applications to align with the specific criteria and interests of each grantor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal grant processes.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and financial reporting as it relates to grants.
  • Experience in building relationships with funders and stakeholders.
  • Proficient Internet research skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Interest in public health, mental health and community engagement
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
