Looking for a way to do good and have fun?
Come volunteer at ScholarMatch's Trivia Night with a Twist! fundraiser on October 9th, 2024 for the benefit of first-generation students! Event volunteers get a free taco bar dinner*. All attendees, including volunteers, must be 21+.
Event Date: October 9, 2024
Event Time: 7-9pm (PT) (internal schedule: 4-10pm)
Event Size: 100 expected guests (50 VIP)
Venue Address: Cartoon Art Museum, 781 Beach St, San Francisco, CA 94109
The volunteer process:
- Sign up through Volunteer Match.
- We will follow up with you about which role(s) you would be interested in and further details about the event.
- A week before the event, we will send a reminder email with the finalized schedule and to confirm volunteer headcount.
- On the day of the event, please arrive on time!
Available Roles (times subject to change):
- Set-up (4pm-5:30pm) - setting up furniture (tables, chairs, etc.) and decor (tablecloths, centerpieces, etc.)
- Check-in (5:45pm-7:30pm) - checking in guests at the reception desk
- VIP reception support (5:45pm-7pm) - passing hors d'oeuvres
- Catering support (6:45pm-9pm) - attending buffet tables, bussing tables
- Trivia support (7pm-9pm) - collecting & grading trivia answers
- Clean-up (9pm-10pm) - cleaning up decor and furniture
- Door (9pm-9:15pm) - collecting pledge cards at exit & thanking guests for attending

Description
A college coach provides critical guidance to high school students during the college application and financial aid process. Our student-centered approach emphasizes the guidance and advocacy of college coaches who support students in making informed decisions based on their needs and preferences. As part of the college application process, coaches build rapport and meaningful relationships with their students.
In this role, you will help students:
-Explore college options and find colleges that are a match and fit
-Develop and edit personal statements
-Fill out financial aid applications
-Review financial aid award letters
-Make final college decision based on available options
-Search and apply for scholarships
-Stay organized during the application process
-Resolve college and application issues
-Work with students via phone, text message, email, and video calls
