Help a K-4 student in your community learn to read!
Reading Partners has been pairing volunteer tutors with elementary students for 25 years to ensure that all kids have the foundational reading skills and confidence they need to be able to read at grade level by fourth grade.
We believe that literacy is the foundation of all learning. With strong literacy skills, students can unlock their potential and thrive in school and in life. For a little over an hour per week, you can make a huge difference in the life of young readers.
Here’s what that looks like: one-on-one tutoring, once a week, with a structured curriculum. No experience is necessary, and we offer in-person and online options with flexible tutoring times and on-site or live support for volunteers!
Before you take the next step to sign up, please review the following tutoring requirements:
All tutors must reside within the continental United States.
Tutoring runs during the school year from late September to May/June.
During the school year, tutoring takes place Mondays-Thursdays during the school day, typically from 8 AM-5 PM PT. Please make sure you have availability within this timeframe.
Tutors commit to a little over an hour per week (same day/time each week) for a minimum of one semester, although the full school year is preferred. Consistent attendance is required.
Tutors work one-on-one with a student in kindergarten through fourth grade.
If you’re interested in tutoring in-person, we operate in these neighborhoods:
Liberty Hill, Park Circle, Accabee, Union Heights, Pepper Hill, Northwoods, Otranto, Rosemount, Archdale, Cedar Grove, Indigo Fields, Ravenel, Hollywood, Daniel Island, Isle of Palms, Mt Pleasant, Devon Pointe, Crowfield, College Park, Cane Bay, Nexton
Volunteering with Reading Partners is one of the easiest and most accessible ways to make a lasting, proven impact not only in your community but also on the future of local students. To learn more about volunteering and to sign up, please visit our website at readingpartners.org/volunteer.

Description
Reading Partners is a national education nonprofit that partners with students, their families, schools, and communities to provide students with individualized literacy support and the foundational skills they need to read at grade level by fourth grade. We do this by training community volunteers to deliver one-on-one, literacy lessons, using our structured and easy to follow, evidence-based curriculum. Volunteer tutoring happens in-person via our Reading Partners Traditional program and virtually via our Reading Partners Connects program. Programming varies by region. We currently serve twelve regions, nationwide: Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Denver, North Texas, Tulsa, Twin Cities, South Carolina, Washington DC, Baltimore, and New York.
