Trail Team - National Public Lands Day 2024
ORGANIZATION: National Park Service
Please visit the new page to apply.
Join us on Saturday, September 28th to celebrate National Public Lands Day in the unique landscape of Joshua Tree National Park! Volunteers will perform trail delineation on a popular park trail along Geology Tour Road by clearing brush from the trail and laying rocks along the path. This work will preserve the beauty and accessibility of the park's trails!
Training and supervision will be provided by a project leader. Each project involves physical labor including hiking, lifting, and repeated bending. Volunteers must be able to safely lift 10 pounds repeatedly and must be able to safely hike 3 miles.
This project will begin at 7:30 am and end at approximately 12:30 pm on Saturday, 9/28. Volunteers will meet at park headquarters in Twentynine Palms, then caravan to the project site. Participation is limited, so volunteers must register for the project beforehand.
