September is Hunger Action Month and the Congressional Hunger Center is launching our latest End Hunger Challenge on September 1, 2024. Registration is open so enroll now to get an email reminder when the course begins.
The Hunger Action Month course is available online, free of charge, and includes our four-part video series that identifies the root causes of food insecurity and steps to becoming an effective advocate. In addition, participants will find:
- An interactive online money management simulation for gaining an understanding of financial constraints for those experiencing poverty;
- Data dashboards to pinpoint the current level of food insecurity in every county in America;
- Videos that explain the economic impacts of hunger; and
- Insights from top academic institutions on how to reduce food waste.
- A certificate of completiong for 5 hours of volunteer service that can be downloaded or shared.
With each new launch of an End Hunger Challenge, our team at the Hunger Center focuses on topics ranging from rural food insecurity, the importance of good nutrition within our aging population, the voices of those who grew up with hunger, continuing challenges of food waste and the lingering effects of food insecurity post-Covid. The challenge is free and open to the public, so join thousands of other participants across the U.S. and sign up for the Challenge now!

Mission Statement
Our mission is to develop, inspire, and connect leaders in the movement to end hunger, and to advocate for public policies that create a food-secure world.
Description
We invest in the development of emerging leaders in the movement to end hunger in the United States and around the world. We strive to engage leaders, especially leaders who have experienced hunger and poverty and leaders of color, in bridging the gap between field and policy, community and Congress, theory and practice. Our programs:
Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellowship: A one-year program combining anti-hunger work in local communities across the United States with policy-level experience in Washington, D.C.
MIckey Leland International Hunger Fellowship: A two-year program where participants learn professional and leadership skills while strengthening food and nutrition security around the world.
Zero Hunger Internship: A ten-week summer program for college students and recent graduates to develop their leadership skills and gain on-the-job experience with anti-hunger organizations across the country.
Zero Hunger Academy: Our food security and leadership development curriculum is also available as an online learning experience for individuals or networks seeking to expand their knowledge on domestic and global hunger.
