This volunteer position supports the Climate Team within the International Services Department (ISD) of the American Red Cross. We are looking for an experienced communication and information management assistant to support internal communication and information management flows for ISD’s Climate Initiative, such as upward reporting as well as documenting and sharing success stories across teams internally. While this role may occasionally matrix to the team responsible or external communications it is envisioned to be 90% internally oriented. This is a 100% virtual (work from home) opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with internal communications materials relating to climate work to ISD staff
- Contribute to the organizational structure of Climate Initiative projects, documents, and other materials
- Document key aspects of climate team’s monthly calls including but not limited to: change requests, project plan updates, task progress, escalation, risk, action items, etc.
- Coordinate with Climate Team and regional representatives to highlight success of climate work within ISD’s priority and climate countries
- Create bi-weekly updates for Preparedness team on recent climate work within the department; some information provided by team members
- Support the socialization of Climate Initiative work across internal teams
- Construct semi-regular (monthly or quarterly) department wide summary updates detailing climate highlights
- Support information management requests for internal reporting to American Red Cross leadership
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree communications, business, public relations, or a related field
- Experience in information management for large organizations
- 1-3 years of experience of communications strategies for large organizations (NGO-preferred)
- Familiarity with corporate public relations
- Familiarity with Microsoft teams
- Experience designing and editing infographics
- High organizational skills
- Collaborative, engaged, team player attitude
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- High level of cultural competency
- Submission of resume
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
Preferred:
- Experience in climate/environmental work
