Job Title: Grant writer
Reports To: Executive Director and Head of Finance
Duration: 6 Months (with potential for extension)
Position Type: Volunteer
Purpose of the Job:
The Grant Writer plays a critical role within Inspired 2 Uplift, responsible for securing the necessary funding to support the organization’s programs and initiatives. This position involves researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to foundations, government entities, and other funding sources. The Grant Writer collaborates closely with the Executive Director and the Head of Finance to understand funding needs, align proposals with organizational goals, and ensure that all applications reflect the mission and values of I2U. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with a talent for persuasive writing and a deep understanding of nonprofit fundraising.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Grant Research and Identification: Identify and research potential grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources that align with Inspired 2 Uplift’s mission and programmatic goals.
Proposal Development: Write compelling and persuasive grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents, that clearly articulate the organization's needs, impact, and alignment with the funder’s priorities.
Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with executive directors, financial personnel, and other staff to gather necessary information, ensure accuracy, and align grant proposals with organizational strategies and program objectives.
Grant Submission and Management: Manage the entire grant submission process, including adhering to deadlines, following funder guidelines, and ensuring that all required documents are submitted in a timely and organized manner.
Reporting and Evaluation: Track the progress of submitted grants, prepare and submit required progress reports to funders, and evaluate the effectiveness of the grant strategy to ensure ongoing improvement and success.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Exceptional Writing and Research Skills:
Ability to craft compelling, clear, and persuasive grant proposals with strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in written English is required.
Analytical and Organizational Skills:
Strong ability to analyze complex information, synthesize data, and organize content effectively within grant proposals.
Experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines is highly valued.
Experience in Grant Writing or Fundraising:
Previous experience in grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit development is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with grant databases and funding research tools is an asset.

Remote work with virtual meetings.
Flexible hours, with a commitment of approximately 4-7 hours per week.
Physical Requirements:
This role primarily involves sedentary work such as participating in meetings and working on a computer.

We actively advocate for disability-related causes and issues and are united by the belief that youth have a unique, powerful role to play in effecting positive change. Our chapters, located in various schools, are testament to this belief - each one a dynamic team of young advocates working tirelessly to make a difference. These bodies of students, inspired to uplift, are finding innovative ways to further disability-related causes in their own communities. Inspired 2 Uplift is a movement built by youth, for youth, transforming empathy into action, and creating a more inclusive world, chapter by chapter, student by student.

Inspired 2 Uplift is a student-led youth organization that endeavours to support youth with disabilities while also educating and raising awareness about disability-related issues among the younger generation. We hope to do our part in erasing the stigma surrounding youth with disabilities.
