ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is proud to announce openings for EMS volunteers for the 2025 Filene Center season. From late-May to late-September, Wolf Trap welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors to approximately 80 performances. These performances vary from rock to jazz to pop country to classical, ballet, and opera. The performance season generally lasts 15-17 weeks.


Duties

· Operating a radio under routine and emergency situations.

· Responding to requests for pre-hospital emergency medical care.

· Performing within the scope of FM-51: NPS EMS Protocols & Procedures at a BLS level when treating patients.

· Maintaining necessary records, reports, and incident forms.

· EMS provider should be able to provide initial independent patient care as a first responder to an emergency medical situation


Qualifications

· Current certification at EMT -B or higher (Will only be able to provide BLS level of care within the park)

· Must be Nationally Registered with the NREMT in an Active Status or will become certified or in an Active Status within one year of volunteering in order to volunteer for the next season. You must hold a current active State Certification if you are not in an active status with the NREMT.

· CPR certified

· Must be able to climb stairs and stand for an extended period

· Must commit to work a minimum of 18 shows per season*

· Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

· Must attend an orientation session before the beginning of the season (Mid May)

· All applicants are required to submit copies of current certification prior to being allowed to perform EMS duties within the park


Shifts

· The EMS volunteer shift begins one hour and 45 minutes prior to the show and ends once the park is clear of visitors

· Shift length varies based on performance length

· You must maintain your availability on a shared online calendar

*The performance season generally lasts 15-17 weeks


Work Environment

The Filene Center is a large outdoor amphitheater seating 7,028 people. The work is done outdoors generally at night. Must be able to climb stairs and stand for extended periods of time. The work is done in all weather conditions, including heat, high humidity, and rain.
