When I was 18, I was fleeing domestic violence and found myself homeless with 2 children under the age of 2. I was scared and alone. With no affordable housing options, the cost of childcare out of reach, and the pressure of providing medical care and food for my kids, I couldn’tsee the light at the end of the tunnel. The obstacles felt insurmountable.
Too many families are finding themselves in the same place that I was in. This is why I am an advocate today. As an advocate, I share my experience of poverty with decision makers and call for bold solutions.
