Want to Change the life of a Child with cancer? Special Spaces needs you!
Special Spaces is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating dream bedroom makeovers for children with cancer. What began with one mother transforming a single room in Knoxville, TN, has grown into a nationwide movement. Today, we operate in 10 states, with over 50 volunteer directors who have helped create more than 1,800 dream bedrooms-including over 400 right here in Illinois.
With the child as the lead designer and a Pinterest board in hand, we bring their dream space to life. Whether it’s a Star Wars adventure, a LEGO wonderland, or a princess paradise, we make their vision a reality. Your generosity allows these children to focus on something other than their next chemotherapy session, stem cell transplant, or hospital stay-it gives them a space to dream, play, and just be a kid. And we accomplish all of this in just one day.

Each dream bedroom makeover day requires the dedication of volunteers to help us make sure the day runs smoothly. We are looking for individuals with strong organizational and interpersonal skills to assist our Dream Bedroom Coordinators in creating dream bedroom makeovers. The "Makeover Concierge" position can include assisting with design plans, completing paperwork, maintaining makeover supplies,managing food and beverages at makeovers, and interacting with and coordinating volunteers.
