ALL PLAY Volunteer Days - Seed Collecting
ALL PLAY Days at Holden Forests & Gardens are when we host one-time volunteer activities that are open to anyone, whether you are an active volunteer with us or not! It’s an opportunity to help the environment, meet new people, try out volunteering for us and hopefully, have a little fun! Plus, you get the benefit of free parking and free admission before or after your shift, so you can enjoy our remarkable forests & gardens.
Seed Collecting
Holden Forests & Gardens is working to combat climate change by fostering resilient forests throughout the region. Join us as we collect native seeds at our Holden Arboretum campus to support reforestation and restoration projects throughout Northeast Ohio! Activities include walking, hiking, bending and kneeling. No prior experience necessary.
For this ALL PLAY event, we welcome volunteers ages 14 and up. Families with children between the ages of 5 and 14 are also welcome to participate, provided a parent/guardian volunteers with the children during the activity.
Here are the details:
- WHEN: Saturday, September 28,10am-12:30pm, after which volunteers are invited to stay for a half hour of a light lunch and celebration!
- WHERE: Volunteers should meet in the parking lot at our Working Woods site at 9805 Sperry Road. We will be hiking into the woods from there as a group, so volunteers must arrive on time.
- WEAR: Volunteers MUST wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes; long pants and long sleeves are encouraged. Volunteers who are not dressed in proper attire will be turned away.
- WHAT TO BRING: Please bring a water bottle. Sunscreen, bug spray and backpacks for storing gear are also recommended. All equipment is provided.
- WHAT ELSE: All volunteers are required to read and sign our Volunteer Waiver & Agreement. Volunteers age 18+ can print it out and bring it with you or sign a paper copy at the work site. IMPORTANT: Volunteers under age 18 MUST print this waiver, have a parent/guardian complete and sign both sides, and bring the signed waiver with them to volunteer. NO EXCEPTIONS.

- This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
