AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP is offering FREE pre-service training workshops to prepare you to serve.
This 3-hour workshop will help you to understand the unique needs of the population and provide skills-training, information, and resources to better prepare you as a volunteer.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in a FREE 6-week program designed to enhance your own physical, mental, and emotional well-being because we believe you need to take care of yourself while taking care of others.
All sessions will be held in Staten Island. Training begins mid-September. Lunch will be provided. Space is limited.
Our staff will then help you find a volunteer opportunity that matches your specific interests and availability.

AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic, and political opportunities.
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, our program is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 of us which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
