Volunteer Opportunity: Grant Writing Assistant
Are you passionate about helping a new nonprofit organization grow and thrive? B.Y.E. (Black, Young, and Empowered) is seeking volunteers to join us in building crucial relationships as a Donor Relations Specialist.
Role and Responsibilities:
Research and Identification:
- Assist in researching potential grant opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and needs.
- Identify suitable grant programs and funding sources.
Grant Writing Support:
- Help draft, edit, and proofread grant proposals and supporting documents.
- Collaborate with the grant writing team to gather necessary information for proposals.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Organize and maintain a database of grant applications, deadlines, and follow-up actions.
- Track the status of submitted grants and update records accordingly.
Data Collection:
- Assist in collecting and organizing data required for grant proposals, such as statistics, reports, and financial information.
- Compile and summarize program achievements and outcomes for inclusion in proposals.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with program managers and other staff to gather relevant information and insights.
- Communicate with potential funders as needed to clarify grant requirements.
Learning and Development:
- Stay informed about best practices in grant writing and fundraising.
- Participate in training sessions or workshops related to grant writing and development.

B.Y.E. is here to empower Black youth by challenging historical limitations and providing comprehensive tools for personal and professional growth. We envision a world where every Black child's dreams are limitless, and their capabilities match those dreams. We offer programs to achieve this:
Goal 1: Financial Independence and Career Advancement
- Financial Empowerment Hub: Equips youth with financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills.
- Youth Job Creation and Training: Provides opportunities above entry-level positions for skill development.
Goal 2: Literacy Enhancement and Diverse Representation
- Reading Literacy Enhancement Program: Closes the reading literacy gap and promotes Black authors in curriculums.
Goal 3: Holistic Mental Health Enhancement
- Holistic Mental Wellness Program: Enhances mental well-being through yoga and meditation.
Goal 4: Performance and Film-making Excellence
- Performing Arts Empowerment Program: Cultivates talent in acting, musical theater, and film-making.
