LAFH needs help for their Homeless Connect Day.

Why: Volunteers will support Homeless Connect day and provide resources to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Who: L.A. Family Housing (LAFH) works to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services.

What to Expect:

Upon arrival, you will check in with an LAFH staff member who will give you your assignment for the day. Whether that's greeting people as they arrive, helping fill out forms, running the check-in table or handing out in-kind supplies from the LAFH table.

Set up and take down tables, chairs, and donations.

Sort and hang clothing, bags, and hygiene items for donation.

Assemble kits for distribution at the event based on specific needs.

What's Required:

Must be comfortable standing and lifting up to 25 lbs

Must be 18 or older

Bring some water in case it gets hot

We do not fulfill court-ordered volunteer hours.

Mission Statement

L.A. Family Housing (LAFH) works to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services. Founded in 1983, LAFH served more than 2,500 people living in poverty this past year through its multiple housing and supportive service programs, and has served over 100,000 people since its inception. In total LAFH owns and operates 21 properties, including three homeless shelters and 18 permanent rental properties. LAFH provides temporary housing, including the Sydney Irmas Transitional Living Center, for families who require additional time for achieving sufficient independence to secure permanent housing. These transitional living programs offer: * Six Months to Two Years of Transitional Housing * Food Services * Case Management * Mandatory Savings Program * Full Range of On-Site Supportive Services
