We are seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers to join our team as Youth Workers/Mentors for our K-8, 9th-12th grade, and young adult programs (ages 19-21). Our organization has successfully operated year-round youth programs since 2013, providing a safe space for youth ages 5-18 to learn, grow, and discover themselves. We are now expanding our reach to include young adults aged 19-21, continuing our mission to combat drug usage, violence (both gang-related and gun-related), and teen pregnancy by providing nurturing environments where youth and young adults can build a better future for themselves.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • 9th-12th Grade Youth Worker/Mentor:
    • Support high school students in their academic journey and career exploration, particularly in STEM fields.
    • Guide teens through creative and educational activities that promote self-discovery, leadership, and community building.
    • Offer mentorship focused on navigating the challenges of adolescence, including peer pressure, academic stress, and life planning.
  • Young Adult (19-21) Mentor:
    • Provide mentorship to young adults who may be at high risk due to their environment or circumstances.
    • Focus on life skills, career readiness, and post-secondary education or vocational training opportunities.
    • Address critical issues such as drug prevention, violence reduction, and the prevention of teen pregnancy by offering support, resources, and a safe space for growth.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for working with youth and young adults from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor.
  • Experience in education, youth development, social work, or related fields is preferred but not required.

Commitment:

  • Engagement with the youth through various online platforms, providing support and guidance.

Benefits:
