ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Wupatki National Monument is seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to help with a variety of Visitor Services! Primary duties will include staffing a visitor center, collecting park fees, and providing outstanding information/orientation services. Secondary Duties may include ringing up bookstore sales for nonprofit partner Western National Park Association (WNPA) and roving park trails providing informal interpretation and a friendly park presence. Training provided to set you up for success! A Federal Tier 2 background check is required and will be included in this position.


Opportunity Duration: September 2024 - December 2024

Work Schedule: 32 hours per week, Friday - Monday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.

Housing: Shared housing with a private room in either a newly restored CCC or Mission 66 ranger house a short walk from the duty site.

Duty Site and Housing Location: Wupatki NM is 40 miles from downtown Flagstaff, a city of about 75,000 residents and all services available.

Weather and Elevation: Wupatki NM is 5,000 ft elevation with a climate on average 10-15 degrees warmer than Flagstaff and little precipitation. Daily highs in the 90s are common through October.

Connectivity: Little to no cell phone coverage within housing. A Mifi hot spot provided in the house may increase the signal depending on your phone provider. VIP will have access to government computers and internet in the visitor center.
