ORGANIZATION: CANCER COMMUNITY CLUBHOUSE

To ensure that partnerships are a good fit for each individual volunteer and for Cancer Community Clubhouse, we established an Advisory Council that provides opportunities to serve. The Advisory Council helps ensure widespread institutional knowledge and is a source through which to "backfill" director and other leadership and volunteer positions. Upon being nominated and approved as a member of the Board of Operations, Bylaws provide that "... Newly elected members who have not served before shall serve initial one-year terms. At the conclusion of the initial one-year term, members of the Board of Directors may serve additional three-year terms."
Planned integration of standardized virtual programming will also broaden participatory opportunities. Additionally, as part of CCC’s growth strategy, there will be increased outreach to historically disadvantaged populations such as black, indigenous, people of color (BIPOC), low-income individuals, and those in rural areas. The ability to embrace opportunities for inclusivity and new ideas will be greatly enhanced by this approach. The availability of the newly leased permanent Clubhouse facility significantly supports these efforts. As a result, along with "bring a buddy" initiatives proven to enhance non-profit volunteer groups, this will create a long-term, expanding base of volunteers.

Description
Please join me in sharing great experiences with amazing people. I’m Natalie Stevenson, a breast cancer survivor and the founder of Cancer Community Clubhouse. Cancer touches everyone. The National Cancer Institute reports that 4 of every 10 people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. Because people spend so much time and money on cancer treatment, many fail to prioritize long-term health and wellness. Programs like CCC’s meditation, relaxation, mindfulness-based stress reduction, Qigong, yoga, and artistic experiences improve the quality of life and survival rates of people living with cancer and of their loved ones and caregivers. Support groups, social connection, and engaging workshops at the Clubhouse help combat the higher mortality risk. attributed to loneliness and depression. CancerFit offers fitness & nutrition specialized for people with cancer.
As one Clubhouse member describes, "You see people who have been where you are, and it gives you hope to keep going." Tara, a 39-year old survivor who began her traumatic cancer journey as a young adult says, "CCC is the only place I can go where others truly understand what I’m going through. CCC’s membership doubled from 2022 to 2023, evidencing community need. CCC welcomes families and care partners. Services are tailored to all ages
