Senior Friendship Centers is seeking volunteers for our new Siesta Key location to deliver fun and engaging classes and activities to senior center members. This role involves working closely with seniors to provide engaging, enjoyable, and meaningful experiences that promote social interaction, personal growth, and overall well-being. We are building a calendar of opportunities and are looking for volunteers to provide a wide variety of programs such as:
- Fitness, Movement, and Wellness classes - Yoga, Zumba, Weightlifting, Tai Chi, Meditation
- Arts & Crafts activities - Music, Painting, Drawing, Crafting
- Educational talks, Language Classes, Games, and more!

SCHEDULE: One hour class from 10:00 - 11:00am or 1:00 - 2:00pm on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. Choose a weekly or biweekly schedule, or offer a limited series class or one-time program.
LOCATION: Senior Friendship Centers at Siesta Key, 5615 Midnight Pass Rd, Sarasota, FL 634242 (Located within community rooms at St. Boniface Episcopal Church)
SUPERVISOR: Senior Center Manager
REPORTS TO: Senior Friendship Centers Siesta Key onsite staff member
DUTIES:
- Work with the Senior Center Manager to plan a class or activity tailored to the interests and needs of seniors.
- Deliver engaging and interactive sessions, encouraging participation and fostering a positive and inclusive environment. Engage with seniors to build rapport and create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Help set up and prepare materials, ensuring everything is ready for participants. Leave the room in a clean and orderly manner.
- Ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe manner. Provide one-on-one assistance to participants as needed, including offering support with mobility or understanding activity instructions.
- Encourage socialization and participation among seniors. Listen to feedback from participants to continuously improve the activities and address any concerns.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Have a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of seniors.
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate older adults.
- Be friendly, patient, flexible, able to handle change, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to perform light physical tasks, such as setting up equipment if necessary.
- Ability to interact professionally with all staff, clients, volunteers, and community partners.
- Must possess cultural awareness and sensitivity for all individuals and groups.
TRAINING : Volunteer orientation will be provided.
