Join Ithaca's Sciencenter in bringing science activities to schools around our community!

Family Science Nights serve rural elementary schools in Tompkins, Schuyler, and Tioga Counties, and take place from 6:30-7:30 pm on select Thursday evenings. We meet beforehand (at 5) at the Sciencenter to eat pizza together and coordinate rides. The Sciencenter will provide training required for all Family Science Night volunteers on Thursday, September 19th from 5:00-7:00 pm. Volunteers are also expected to sign up to help out with two or more events:

  • Thursday, October 3rd - Newfield
  • Thursday, October 10th - Cayuga Heights (at the Sciencenter)
  • Thursday, October 17th - Moravia
  • Thursday, October 24th - Dryden
  • Thursday, November 7th - Enfield
  • Thursday, November 14th - Caroline

Please note: science expertise is not required to volunteer, but enthusiasm for sharing STEM learning with diverse audiences is highly encouraged! If you have questions about Family Science Nights or general volunteering at the Sciencenter, please don't hesitate to reach out! Questions can be directed to volunteer@sciencenter.org.
