Attend an hour long in-person Information Session to learn more about becoming a mentor with BUILD!
Why: About 78% of Teachers say that Critical Thinking is a crucial component in a student's development as a leader. By volunteering, you will empower students and youth to land higher wage jobs by addressing systemic inequalities and barriers to employment faced by underserved youth in helping these students build entrepreneur skills that can translate to the workforce.
Who: Our non-profit partner, BUILD, ignites the power of youth in under-resourced communities to build Career Success, Entrepreneurial Mindsets, and Opportunity. BUILD helps students become the CEO of their own lives! BUILD Los Angeles is currently supporting six LAUSD schools with the delivery of their business and entrepreneurship curriculum.
What to Expect: Watch a presentation that shares more about the program and supporting and mentoring students throughout the school year.
What's Required:
There are no requirements to attend this info session but there are requirements to become a BUILD volunteer mentor.
After info session, BUILD's process to become a volunteer includes submitting an application, going through a 30-minute interview, complete background check, and 2 references.

Through entrepreneurship-based, experiential learning, BUILD prepares students for post-secondary success. By helping students develop and run their own small business, BUILD supplements traditional school with critical skill-building for the future. Volunteers from the community are also a part of BUILD's curriculum. They support the students throughout the year providing feedback and helping them build their professional networks. BUILD operates in California (Bay Area and Los Angeles), Boston, NYC, Metro DC and Pittsburgh.
