ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: Rainbow Railroad

Rainbow Railroad’s Communities of Care initiative is designed to provide LGBTQI+ refugees with the support and resources they need to successfully rebuild their lives in safer environments. These communities bring together private sponsors, local organizations, and volunteers who are committed to offering holistic support--from housing and financial assistance to mental health services and social integration. The program not only ensures that refugees have their basic needs met, but also fosters a sense of belonging and connection in their new homes. As Rainbow Railroad looks to expand this initiative to Los Angeles, the goal is to establish a vibrant network of Communities of Care that can welcome and support LGBTQI+ refugees arriving in the city for 90 days. By mobilizing local resources and community members, Rainbow Railroad aims to create a safer, more inclusive environment where these vulnerable individuals can thrive.
