Recruiting Organization: Compeer of Greater Buffalo
Compeer Outreach Team members play a crucial role in expanding our reach and impact within communities across Erie County. As an Outreach Team member, you will be the face of Compeer, representing us at various community events and speaking directly with members of the community to encourage them to get involved with our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Share Personal Experiences: Utilize your experience as a friend and fellow supporter of individuals living with mental health challenges to communicate the impact and need for our programs to individuals who are interested in volunteering or receiving Compeer services.
- Connect and Engage: Engage with individuals, groups, and communities to raise awareness about Compeer's mission, values, and programs. Be a friendly face that represents our organization, making connections that matter.
- Educate and Inform: Provide detailed explanations of Compeer's various programs, highlighting benefits and the positive changes they bring to the lives of participants.
- Expand Presence: By participating in outreach events, workshops, and community gatherings, team members contribute to expanding Compeer's presence across diverse communities
- Strengthen Partnerships: Through your interactions and connections, help strengthen forge new partnerships with organizations, community groups, and resources that align with Compeer's mission
Time Commitment: The time commitment may vary depending on the number of events and outreach opportunities available. Outreach Team members are expected to be available for a flexible schedule including weekends, and evenings often when events are often held.
Outreach Event Types:
- Community and Resource Fairs
- Career Fairs
- Wellness Fairs
- Events for partner organizations
Eligibility Requirements:
- Minimum age of 18
- A current or past participant in Compeer programs preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance (to get to and from outreach events.)
- Background Check clear of accusations, arrests, charges, or convictions of child abuse or molestation, clear of findings on the national sex offender registry, and clear from any felony convictions. Any other alert found as part of the background screening will be reviewed by and discussed with a candidate
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to attending events as needed.
- Basic understanding of mental illness
- Enthusiastic about Compeer's mission and programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passionate about educating others on the impact of mentoring on mental health.
