Board Member, HR Expertise in CA Labor Law

Las Trampas supports adults with developmental disabilities in Lafayette, CA. We are searching for dedicated Board candidates with Human Resources expertise to serve as a guide to our Executive Director (ED) with regard to HR issues as it relates to the following:

• Competency with CA wage and hour laws and compliance
• Advising on compensation, employee benefits and performance management systems, and safety and recreation programs
• Analyzing and modifying compensation and benefits policies
• Ability to facilitate/counsel employee mediations, negotiations and possible investigations as they pertain to CA labor law
• Helping the Executive Director and Director of HR handle employee questions as they arise
• Interpreting employee contracts
• Maintaining optimal staffing levels by tracking vacancies and initiating recruitment & interview processes to identify qualified candidates
• Proficiency with employee relations and conflict resolution
• Establishing competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements
• Advising Executive Director and Director of Human Resources on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment·
• The principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
• Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources is also desired.
• Ability to be proactive and preventive compliance approaches implemented before workplace issues arise.
• CA Laws, legal codes, court procedures , precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process is very important.
