Luminary Hospice is seeking volunteers to sit with patients in their last hours.
Vigil volunteers provide comfort--for the patient as well as family and caregivers--simply by being present in the patient's last hours. Volunteers may play appropriate music or read patient's favorite poems or scripture, or they may sit quietly beside the patient.
This time is special, as a patient may be unresponsive but likely aware of the presence of a friend in the room. Vigil volunteers bring an additional level of comfort at the end of the patient's life.
Vigil volunteers provide their availability to the Luminary Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, schedule time(s) convenient for them, and spend as much time as they choose with a patient. Share your time when it makes such a difference!
